back at the gym for the first time in a while… resolution starts today! #fitness

thank you so much! this is so encouraging to hear, and definitely a motivator for me to try and keep up with my fitness!

i really enjoy the classes at my gym. 

barre burn (or any barre class) is a great allover workout. it tones every part of your body and incorporates cardio, yoga, pilates, and ballet moves into a fun, upbeat class set to happy music. i am SUPER sore all over after this class but it’s the best kind of hurt.

i also really love vinyasa flow yoga. this yoga is done in a heated room (but not bikram heated for those of you who have also endured that insanely sweaty room) and is a continuous flow which gets you sweating, your heart rate up, and works your whole body. this is great for improving flexibility and also a great way to clear your mind. i wasn’t ever really a yoga fan until i started the classes at equinox.

ab blast is a great 15 minute workout solely focused on your abs, which is killer but so worth it! i see results almost immediately after i  get out of this class.

for alternative workout ideas if you’re working out at home or not into group classes:

-jumping rope for a minute is great cardio. try doing this in a circuit along with
-V-ups
-squats
-mountain climbers
-holding a low plank for a minute

and repeating for 3 circuits. this is what i do when i’m home and too lazy to get to the gym!

hi there! 

it’s actually been kind of a struggle for me recently. i do try to go to the gym at least 3-4 times a week, but recently i’ve been lagging a bit and only going 1-2 times a week :/

when i’m at the gym i alternate between going to classes and doing my own workouts.

when i’m not in a class i’ll do:
-15-25 minutes of cardio (intervals of sprinting and jogging if on the treadmill, the fat burn setting on the stairmaster, or the insane elliptical that burns calories like nobodies business… i’ll try to snap a photo of it when i get my phone back so you can see which one it is!)

-then i’ll work on abs, rotating through leg lifts, high to low planks, side plank reaches (for the obliques), crunches, bicycles, etc.

-i usually also practice my yoga inversions that really work the core and are the most fun part of my work out!

one of my favorite parts of going to the gym is going with friends. we motivate each other to work harder, and then we get to steam together and get dressed for work, which is a great girl-bonding time, and also a fun way to share clothes, makeup tips, and just have some good girl time :)
