1990etc asked: How'd you make that thin pizza dough crust though? Looks unreal.
hi! thank you so much. it was my first try at pizza and i was super nervous! but it actually came out really great. this is the recipe i used for my crust (i made two, so this is for two crusts but you can easily half it just to make one. or make two and store the other one a few days! i think pizza crust gets better with age):
- 4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon active dry or instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt (i used sea salt, but i think kosher would be better)
- 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
sprinkle the yeast packet into 1.5 cups of warm water (i microwaved my water for 45 seconds).
in a mixer (or with a mixer if you’re like me and only have a handheld one and not the bowl mixer… ahem… santa?) mix the flour and salt. while you have the mixer on low, drizzle in the oil until just combined with the flour. then pour in the yeast water (not gross at all to call it that right…) and mix until combined.
coat a mixing bowl in a little more olive oil and dump the dough in and form it into a ball. coat the dough in olive oil then cover the bowl with saran wrap (press and seal is a blessing) and stick it in the fridge til you need it. i made mine the night before i wanted to use the dough.
when i made the pizzas i just kind of ripped the dough in half and used my palm and fingers to stretch it as thin as possible.
for the fig one i drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled on some salt, then spread fig spread over the pizza, then a little more salt, and then cut some fresh mozzarella really thin and put it all over the pizza, then a little more salt and fresh ground pepper, baked at 500f for 12 minutes and then topped with prosciutto and arugula. super yummy!
pesto pizza: didn’t use olive oil cuz there’s oil in the pizza, just smeared the dough with my fresh pesto (if you want a recipe let me know!) then fresh mozzarella slices, then thinly sliced roma tomato, then a little more salt and pepper, and then baked for 12 minutes at 500f.
