I’ll admit, I was hardly thrilled by the idea of moving to New York when this job offer was presented. I loved to visit, but didn’t think I could cut it living here. That being said, this pretty city grew on me, and I will always look back on this time with fondness, as this city taught me a lot about myself, and also is where I really fell in love with #yoga. And who knows? Maybe down the line I’ll be back… But as some of you know, and most of you do not, in two weeks we are moving to Los Angeles. I have always felt most at home on the west coast, and am very excited for this next big adventure. I hope to see all my east coast friends before we start the cross country drive (yes, mika is coming with!) and also to see you all in LA! #bestcoastbound #newbeginnings

funky legged variation of #pinchamayurasana or forearm stand from a couple days ago on the balcony on my pretty new @shopharveys yoga mat! bummed about being so congested, cuz upside down poses like this are no good when you’re sick. however, there are several #yoga poses that ARE great for helping you feel better when you’re under the weather, like: standing forward bend pose, supported bridge pose, supported bound angle pose, and widespread forward bend. these gentle poses will help with your breathing, clearing your sinuses, relieving tension, and increasing circulation. #yogaeverydamnday

feeling strong and capable today, which is kind of a relief from the overwhelming anxiety I have been feeling the last couple of weeks from mika’s illness, my mom’s corresponding grief, some big work changes, and some other huge life developments on the horizon. only a couple inches til full scorpion #vrischikasana! getting more confident in my #yoga practice then I ever imagined I could be! I hope that in a couple of years i am more fully able to find and create the balance in my life. to not let the sad things overwhelm and consume me, and to still be able to appreciate the good things, however slight they may seem in comparison. to let in the love and light while still being able to grieve and make peace with the things I have no control over. it’s always good to remember to breathe, especially in times of extreme stress or frustration. that and i hope i finally find time to finish the novel i started last year! #thanksamillionfromlaura

feels great finally getting back to my #yoga practice after the stress of this past week. feeling very lucky to have this gorgeous view of manhattan as my backyard! one legged wheel pose strengthens your arms, wrists, abs, back, butt, and spine! also great for increasing energy and counteracting depression. this pose is also therapeutic for osteoporosis, asthma, back pain, and infertility. 📷: @justinryankim

back in boston with my favorite pup! practicing getting into handstand with stag legs. still not enough control to properly arrange my legs (split hard and get legs into 90 degree angles!) but closer today than I’ve ever been before 🎉 my favorite thing about #yoga is seeing how I progress in these poses along the way… practice makes perfect! handstands are also one of the best full body workouts you can do as they increase your circulation, decrease production of the stress hormone cortisol, and assist with breathing, as well as being an amazing core, arm, shoulder, leg, and back strengthener! start practicing handstands by kicking up against a wall and holding for 5-10 seconds. if you practice 3x a day you’ll see an increase in strength after only a couple weeks 🙌💪

backbends and brunch! best way to start this Sunday-that-feels-like-a-Saturday 👌 this variation on wheel pose is a great shoulder opener and relieves the tension in your shoulders that you might have from sitting at a desk all day typing, or from driving all scrunched up for long hours. very grateful to come home to this gorgeous #yoga mat from @shopharveys! I’ve needed a mat so badly for a while so this is perfect timing 😍😘

squeezing in some #yoga practice after the last day at the tradeshows! ‘lord of the dance pose’ (which is a very deceiving name because i am by no means a good dancer 🙈) or #natarajasana strengthens your core and legs and improves balance. feels good to stretch and get in a light workout after three nights of partying and walking the tradeshow! detox starts tomorrow  (at The Venitian-Venezia Tower Suites)

when i first finally held my forearm stand about a year ago, i remember how elated and powerful i felt. invincible even! such a great pose to strengthen your arms, shoulders, and abs. also amazing for relieving stress and fatigue. one of my very favorite #yoga poses 😌 #pinchamayurasana
